Further Information

Users of remotely sensed imagery – from developers in defense and commercial industries to scientists and researchers – increasingly need spatially accurate, 3D representations to help them analyze their images.

The new ENVI DEM Extraction Module helps you to quickly create DEMs – and get more information from your imagery.

Accurate and Fast 3D Visualization
The new ENVI DEM Extraction Module provides an easy-to-use, wizard-based tool to create highly accurate, digital elevation models for orthorectification, topographical analysis, visualization and contour map generation.

The module’s convenient wizard-based tool walks you through a nine-step process:

  • Select stereo images
  • Select ground control points
  • View and edit ground control points
  • Perform tie point collection
  • View and edit tie points
  • Generate epipolar images
  • Set output DEM projection and size
  • Select DEM Extraction parameters
  • Examine and edit the final DEM

Superior Visualization Flexibility and Power
The ENVI DEM Extraction module saves you time and automates your image analysis workflow with flexible viewing, measurement and editing tools to enhance your 3D representations:

  • View an anaglyph stereo pair
  • Measure feature heights
  • EDIT DEMs
  • Create epipolar stereo images
  • Extract 3D features

Support for multiple sensors
The ENVI DEM Extraction Module supports RPC’s from multiple pushbroom sensors: ASTER, IKONOS, OrbView-3, QuickBird and SPOT 1-5.

Using Digital Elevation Models (DEMs)
Whether you’re analyzing terrain attributes in an image or looking for features within a target area, there is a growing need for spatially accurate, orthorectified 3D representations.

Digital Elevation Models offer:

  • The most position-accurate representations available
  • A cost-effective solution to keeping people out of the field to verify data
  • A way to analyze physically inaccessible areas

Professionals in an array of industries use DEMs to increase their analysis capabilities:

  • Defense – Target authentication, field communication and data orthorectifcation
  • Mining/Exploration – Volume extraction measurement
  • Civil GIS – Visual representations for presentation, water runoff analysis
