new Intelligent Tools, or iTools, provide a powerful and flexible set of interactive
utilities for any IDL user. As an IDL novice or casual user, you can quickly and easily
open, analyze and visualize your data and produce stunning, publication-quality graphics.
If you are an experienced IDL programmer, the pre-built tools reduce your programming
effort and integrate seamlessly with the IDL Command Line, user interface controls, and
custom algorithms. In addition, you can use the iTools framework to build completely
customized visualization environments.
The iTools are made up of five pre-built tools:
- iPlot provides 2D and 3D graphing
- iSurface allows for surface representations of 2D array data and irregularly sampled
point collections
- iContour enables the production and anipulation of contour plots
- iImage provides image display, exploration, ROI definition and basic processing
- iVolume is used for the rendering and dissection of volumetric data
- iMap allows you to work with geolocated data
- iVector displays vector fields and wind bars
Powerful - iTools have the right set of features out of the box, so
you don't need to reinvent the wheel every time you want to apply an interactive task on
your data.
Flexible - In addition to visualizing your data, iTools allow you to
use built-in analysis options to probe your data and understand it better.
